JOB PURPOSE

To contribute mainly to the Supply Chain Unit’s logistics services contracting process, market assessment, and vendor performance evaluations for World Food Programme (WFP) operations in Tanzania for cost-effective delivery of humanitarian food commodities and related non-food items to regional destinations including Tanzania, DRC, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan and Kenya.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in logistics and transport management, supply chain, shipping, or other relevant fields is an added advantage.

Languages:
  • General Service (Field): Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Swahili.


OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
  • At least six (6) years of relevant work experience in logistics and transport management, port operations, landside transport management, customs clearance and freight forwarding, and/or related fields.
  • Experience in managing logistics operations, including knowledge of transport and logistics contracting and executions, port operations, commodity accounting, and warehouse management.
  • Experience maintaining corporate systems and running queries on ongoing shipments, pipeline information, insurance claims, and food stock.
  • Experience in administering third party service providers’ contracts.
  • Experience in compiling contract documentation.
  • Experience in contract execution.
  • Experience in budget monitoring and reporting.

JOB PURPOSE

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Shipping, Logistics, or other relevant fields.
Languages:
International Professional: Fluency (level C) in the English language.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
  • 5 At least five (5) years of relevant postgraduate professional-level work experience in shipping, port operations, and/or related fields.
  • Experience in managing complex logistics operations, including knowledge of transport and logistics contracting and executions, port operations, commodity accounting, and warehouse management.
  • Professional level experience specifically in Port and International Shipping Operations.
  • Experience working with supply chain actors in coordinating transport modality/timing and liaising with agents and suppliers to meet deadlines.
