Deputy Chief of Party

About the job

Deloitte Consulting LLP, headquartered in Arlington, VA, is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) role for an anticipated five-year, USAID-funded Tanzania Regional Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Activity (RMNA). The primary responsibility of the DCOP will be to advance the work of the executive team in developing and implementing project objectives. The goal of this project is to strengthen the health and food market systems that support the adoption of optimal nutrition-related behaviors across a range of stakeholders in targeted regions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Health, Business Management, health administration, international development, Administration, or other relevant areas
  • Equivalent training/knowledge of strategic planning, process improvement, and workforce development
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience leading complex functions in a multi-sectoral USAID global nutrition program or an operations role leading business operations or strategy
  • Demonstrated experience leading programs in in Tanzania, local hire preferred.
  • Extensive experience working across a wide range of government, civil society, local, donor, and multilateral counterparts.
  • Leadership experience in transformative initiatives across internal and external partners (including governmental partners)
  • Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; strong presentation skills (verbal and written), analytical, research skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to lead, influence, and negotiate at a high-level


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Policy, International Development, Business Management, International Development, or related area
  • Leadership experience and demonstrated success in the context of the following areas: nutrition, public health systems, or water, sanitation, and adequate hygiene
  • Experience and knowledge of the Tanzania agriculture supply chain.
  • Relevant experience in the following regions: Njombe, Iringa, Rukwa, Songwe, and/or Kigoma
  • Experience with healthcare providers, public health initiatives, supporting continuing education or training for healthcare workers
  • Possess knowledge on technical aspects of budgeting large-scale projects, compliance with international policy, and procedure developing
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and work objectives, multi-task, and provide robust creative insight

Finance/Grants Manager

Ultimately, the primary responsibility of this role is to support the executive leadership team in matters of financial performance and the success of this project. The goal of this activity is to strengthen the health and food market systems that supports the adoption of optimal nutrition-related behaviors across a range of stakeholders in targeted regions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, public administrations, public policy, public relations, political science, or a related field. Strong understanding of financial management and ability to budget long-term
  • Minimum of 7 years of relative experience managing multi-sectoral projects, including grant writing oversight, research methods, statistics, and report writing in a senior or management capacity
  • Strong ability to analyze, investigate, resolve, and collaborate on issues through a financial management perspective
  • Extensive knowledge of excel spreadsheet programs and experience with developing financial models, forecasting resource allocations
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively. Must be comfortable translating quantitative and qualitative data for a variety of stakeholders
  • Strong experience in planning, organizing, and overseeing the creation of grant proposals. Extensive experience in working cross-functionally across work groups
  • Proficiency in MS Office, presentation and creation tools, and internet research tools


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced or post-graduate degree in public health, administration, management, or any related area
  • Leadership experience and demonstrated success in grant writing in the context of the following areas: nutrition, public health systems, water, sanitation, and adequate hygiene

This activity aims to strengthen the health and food market systems that support the adoption of optimal nutrition-related behaviors across a range of stakeholders in targeted regions. Ultimately, promoting global food security, resilience, nutrition, and supporting the USAID global health initiative to prevent maternal and child deaths.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in food technology, agricultural economics, or a related, relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in food design and implementation and management of programs aimed at food production, processing, food loss/waste interventions.
  • Experience in institutional strengthening and partnership building in food system approaches.
  • Extensive experience working across a wide range of government, civil society, local, donor, and multilateral counterparts.
  • Demonstrated experience with collecting, analyzing, and disseminating lessons learned and insights.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships cross-culturally.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and knowledge of Tanzanian food systems.
  • Leadership experience and demonstrated technical expertise with increasing nutrition services at the community level.
