AKES.T is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.
AKEST is looking to hire the following position below based in Dar es Salaam:

Executive Assistant
Position Summary

The Executive Assistant will ensure the efficient operation of the Office of the CEO and provides high- level administrative support services to the CEO. Board Members, and other leadership staff. Handles confidential information and engages in frequent contact with all levels of employees. The EA will also coordinate all efforts for handling day to day tasks assisting CEO and other leadership staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the CEO in preparing and distributing correspondence, reports and other material relating to AKES, T matters.
  • Organize and prioritize incoming correspondence for action by the
  • Maintain the CEO’s schedule and calendar, providing reminders for meetings and scheduling as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain a well-organized filing system for all correspondence, reports and reference material related to the CEO’s work.
  • Support the CEO, Board and the Senior Management Team with agendas and minutes of all meetings
  • Notify Board members and Corporate Secretary of Board meetings with sufficient notice.
  • Maintain accurate records of Board and SMT meetings – notice, attendance and minutes in a well- organized filing system.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration
  • Diploma in Secretarial Studies from an accredited college
  • At least three years working experience in similar position
  • Proficiency in English and Microsoft Office packages
  • Good understanding and experience in office management
  • Flexibility to work on occasional weekends and after office hours

Competencies required

School nurse
Key responsibilities

  • Provides health assessments.
  • Obtains a health history.
  • Observes the child for development and health patterns in making nursing assessment.
  • Develops and implements a student health plan.
  • Interprets the health status of students to parents and school
  • Initiates referral to parents, school personnel or community health resources for intervention, remediation and follow through.
  • Provides ongoing health counselling with students, parents, school personnel or health

  • Diploma Certificate from accredited College or University
  • Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in public health nursing, community health nursing, school health nursing or pediatric nursing

Operations and Finance Officer
Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that banking transactions are updated on daily basis and related vouchers are
  • Handle the Petty Cash float and ensure that reimbursements and claims are as per the AKES, T finance policy limits.
  • Ensure properfiling of all vouchers in an easily accessible manner and maintain the documentation system of all
  • Making sure that all accounting documentation are properly filed and kept in a secured place with monthly validation.
  • Preparing payment vouchers
  • Provide Logistics, Procurement and Admin support
  • Bachelor degree in finance and accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting package should be an added advantage
  • Three years working experience
  • Excellent team player
Proficiency in English language will be an asset

PYP Coordinator

Key Responsibilities
The PYP Coordinator is responsible for providing information, guidance and administrative support to students, colleagues, the Head of School, and the community: and for the coordination of all PYP-related
The PYP Coordinator is the key person in the PYP and should possess excellent interpersonal, communication and administrative skills: be IT literate: and have a strong sense of responsibility for the academic needs and personal welfare of A fundamental understanding of IB program requirements is essential.

Applicants should have the following qualification and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Education from an accredited college or
  • At least A years’ experience in PYP practicing and teaching in IB PYP classes.
  • Extensive understanding of (IB-PYP)standards and
  • Should have strong ability to support teachers in implementing the IB-PYP expectations through collaborative planning and lesson modelling.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among all staff
  • Conduct parent information
  • Publish articles pertaining to the PYP in the school newsletter.
  • Prepare and circulate an annual analysis and feedback of PYP assessment results.

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience preferred in either the sciences, technology and/or the arts.
  • With a strong personal interest and exposure to all three areas, and the desire and skill to integrate across various disciplines
